Welcome to the Hobbits home

Hobbitenango is located 20 minutes from Antigua in a zone called Vuelta Grande.

It’s a park inspired by the village of the Hobbits in the movie “The Lord of the Rings” or “The Hobbit”. It is the perfect place to appreciate the amazing view of the volcanoes surrounding from different viewpoints.

On-site, there are different activities, bars, restaurants, and small Hobbit’s houses that you can rent for a unique experience.

Hobbitenango is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends. The project emerged from the desire to create a place full of nature and amusement in a bustling world. At first, it was just an eco-village shared between friends, but slowly grew in notoriety through locals and international travelers.

A completely unique place

Among the on-site activities, it is possible to do archery, ax throwing, fair games for kids, a 7-course mini-golf, a giant swing above the void (2,500 meter high!).

In the eerie set inspired by the worldwide known Tolkien trilogy, 12 viewpoints give you a breathtaking view on the 3 volcanoes of the region: Agua, Acatenango and Fuego. One of the miradors is a “giant hand” very popular among aspiring instagrammers and influencers.

For those who want to spend more time in this wonderful world, it is possible to sleep in a Hobbit’s house. Dinner is served in your room, in front of a fireplace. An incredible sunset joined the show, seeing from far away lava from Fuego and Pacaya volcanoes all night long. An amazing experience for the whole family!

How to get there?

There are different ways to get there.

By car or taxi: You can try to go on your own, but you will have to leave the car on the parking lot (charged extra). From there, you have to hop on a shuttle that take you to Hobbitenango (free).

Hobbitenango shuttle: A great option to get there is to use the shuttle organized by the park. You can find it in their office in Antigua, and it will leave you at the park entrance. The office is located at 200-meter from the Merced church: 3a Avenida Norte #20A. It costs 45 Quetzales per person (both ways).

Quad/Buggy: Different agencies in Antigua offer a half-day tour that includes all the best miradors in the surrounding area, including Hobbitenango. It’s a fun activity to meet new people during your trip to Guatemala.

For the most adventurous, it is possible to go by mountain bike but beware of uneven ground!

We do not recommend going there during the week-ends in peak season as there will be too many people on-site, which could affect your experience (especially during holy week or Christmas holiday). During the evening and at night, the place is always calm and little-visited.

Why not spend a night with your kids during your next trip to Guatemala?
