Tristan

Founder

Originally from the North East of France, I walked Patagonia then Mexico where I settled 6 years at the helm of Terra Maya. I am passionate about the Mayan world, the authenticity of the meetings, the diversity of the fauna. These passions naturally lead me to Guatemala where I settle in 2018.

Anaïs

Travel Designer

Born in the south of France, I discovered Guatemala in 2022 during a trip. After finishing my studies and gaining some experience in the voluntary sector and tourism, I decided to move to Guatemala (for the country, but also for one of its inhabitants 😊). The Terra Guatemala adventure is a new challenge for me and allows me to learn more about this wonderful country every day. I’m delighted to be able to help future travelers discover Guatemala: its incredible landscapes, its welcoming people and its traditions.

Get out of Antigua to visit the small villages in the surrounding area. An authentic getaway in the pretty department of Sacatepequez.

Love at First Sight
Wake up to howler monkeys in the heart of the tropical jungle before setting off on an adventure to a Mayan temple.

A Favorite Dish

Axel

Travel Designer

Hi I am Axel. I’ve been fascinated by Latin America since the age of 16, and it’s natural that I wanted to work in the tourism industry. After 3 years of study, I did an internship with a local travel agency in Peru. After criss-crossing Latin America and resuming my Master’s studies in Rennes in France, I got an internship with Terra Guatemala, and then joined their team for good.

I am Guatemalan and in love with my beautiful country “of the eternal spring”. I am proud to belong to this culturally diverse country, where I love visiting magical places such as volcanoes, lakes, beaches and archaeological sites. I consider myself a dynamic person who enjoys spending time in the midst of nature.

Holy Week traditions in Antigua, including the preparation of colorful carpets made from flowers, vegetables and sawdust. These pieces of art decorate the streets of the colonial city during religious processions. Smells such as incense and myrrh bring back childhood memories.

Love at First Sight

A visit to the weaving museum in San Antonio Calientes where I was born. Here you can observe the changes that have taken place over time in traditional clothing, and the significance of each costume typical of each region. These garments are of great importance in Guatemalan culture.

A Favorite Dish

Among the country’s emblematic dishes, my favorite is the Pepian de 3 carnes (with chicken, beef and pork). It is distinguished by its distinctive flavour, accompanied by chillis (not spicy), rice, vegetables and avocado.

Wow!

Sunrises and sunsets over the most beautiful lake in the world… Lake Atitlán! Surrounded by volcanoes, with fresh air and the sound of birds singing.

During Holy Week in Antigua Guatemala, the streets of our colonial city are filled with color, art, aromas, food tastings and traditions.

A Favorite Dish

Mole: a traditional Guatemalan dish that combines the sweetness of fried plantains with a mole sauce made from a blend of spices, chillies and chocolate.

Wow!

Camping at Volcan Acatenango… During the night, we listen to and observe the explosions of the Fuego volcano. In the morning, enjoy a magnificent sunrise over a sea of clouds with a good cup of coffee. Accompanied by a good cup of coffee, it is my happiest place on earth.
